The Delaware County Friends of the Trail (DCFT) is a non-profit, 501c(3) organization dedicatedto the health and safety of the citizens of Delaware County through the promotion, planning and building of multi-use trails for recreation and transportation.

What we do:

  • Trail advocacy and outreach with local and state government, community organizations and developers
  • Maintenace, upkeep and clearing of existing trails in Delaware County
  • Grant writing and applications for trail development

  • Public relations an eductation on trails and trail-related issues
  • DCFT is focused on completing the Delaware County portion of the Ohio to Erie Trail.

    2007 DCFT Officers

    Pete Brown, President

    Pete Brown joined DCFT in the fall of 2005, and became Vice President in January, 2006. In January, 2007, he was elected President. Pete is also chairing Genoa Township's newly-formed Parks Advisory Board. He became interested in trail development while commuting by bicycle from his Genoa Township home to his Westerville office using the Genoa Trail. Professionally, Peter manages communications for a local software company.

    Jim Flaherty became involved with DCFT from the initial meeting where the vision of the Ohio to Erie Trail was presented. As a local attorney, Jim was able to donate the legal work to incorporate and obtain the charitable status for the organization. Jim now serves on the Ohio To Erie Trail Fund Board also and helped implement Community Ties, an annual fundraiser for both trail organizations. As a marathoner, Jim enjoys the local trails for training.
