Used Bike Collection at Genoa Trail Festival
DCFT is a co-sponsor of a Used Bicycle Collection for Pedals4Progress, a nonprofit organization that takes gently used American bicycles and sends them to nations in need overseas, where they can have an immediate and significant impact on one's quality of life.
The collection will take place at the Genoa Trail Festival, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 in Genoa Township's McNamara Park. Because it costs an average of $28 for each bike from pickup to delivery, p4p requests a $10 cash donation with each bike.
DCFT Members can help with this worthy endeavor by printing and posting the flyer attached to this post, volunteering for a shift at the colletcion event on June 2, and by donating any older bicycles you may no longer need.
Pedals4Progress is a registered 501c(3) organization, and donations are tax deductible.
Got Trailer?
Pete Brown is driving the collected bikes to New Jersey for shipping shortly after the collection event. Though it ultimately depends ont he number of bikes collected, Pete is hoping to pull a trailer to NJ to drop the bikes off. If you have a trailer he can use, please let Pete know.
