About 250 bicycle riders participated in the 8th Annual Delaware County Community Ties Bicycle Tour on July 24, 2010 making it the largest turnout ever!
Despite temperatures (and humidity) in the 90's, riders young and mature, experienced and novice, fast and leisurely, came out to enjoy this scenic, fully-supported tour. Riders chose from 31, 62, or 100 miles. There was also an 8-mile family ride along the Genoa Township Trail.
The tour started and ended at Northside Fellowship Church, which is located just east of the trail at Freeman Road and Route 3.
A delicious and healthful lunch was provided by Graumlich Family Farm under a tent that offered shade and channeled a warm breeze. The food was locally grown and raised, and homemade. From the chicken salad to the marinated vegetables and fresh salsa, it was truly a special treat.
Some riders enjoyed the ride so much that they wrote to tell us:
"I must compliment you on your tremendous bike tour on Saturday, July 24th. I am pretty new at cycling. This spring, at age 57, I decided that cycling was going to be my new fitness endeavor. I signed up for the 100 mile Pelotonia tour and then started training. I am loving it! I have participated in 5-6 organized rides and I have to say that I enjoyed your ride the best. All of your volunteers were as welcoming, friendly and informative as could possibly be. Your map was excellent as were your road markings. The many water stops were much appreciated. The lunch back at Northside Fellowship Church was homemade and perfect and delicious and the women that served the meal were awesome and so much fun to talk to."
"Thanks for a great ride! The food was fabulous! The best I've tasted in decades."
